Reacting to the judgment by Justice Cecilia Githua, Passaris said the verdict could not bring back Sharon or her unborn child, but it reaffirmed the principle that every person is equal before the law.
She said that although justice had taken years, accountability remains important because it restores public confidence that every life matters equally.
According to the ODM lawmaker, the judgment also shows that truth and accountability can prevail despite delays in the justice process.
Passaris recalled joining other Kenyans in demanding justice for Sharon following her 2018 murder.
The Nairobi Woman Representative also revealed that although she did not attend Sharon's funeral in Homa Bay, she sponsored a bus carrying human rights defenders from Nairobi to stand in solidarity with Sharon's family.
She commended Sharon's family for their resilience throughout the trial and also praised the investigators, prosecutors, witnesses, human rights defenders and the Judiciary for seeing the case through.
Following the judgement, Passaris called for renewed efforts to end gender-based violence and ensure every victim has access to justice.
Her remarks came after Obado, his former personal assistant Michael Oyamo, and former Migori County Clerk Caspal Obiero were found guilty on Thursday.
The court ruled that the evidence proved the three acted with a common intention in the killing of Sharon Otieno, a Rongo University student who was about seven months pregnant at the time of her death.
