Investigators have discovered that Dr. Mutiso's case might be connected to a family property dispute that has been going on for over twenty years.
It turns out that Prof. David Ndetei, Dr. Mutiso's husband, was previously involved in a legal battle over property with his ex-wife, Rose Mbithe. Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu represented Prof. Ndetei in that case.
Now, Rose Mbithe and her son, Chris Mulwa, are considered suspects in Dr. Mutiso's murder. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is asking for more time to hold them while they look for other suspects, examine evidence, and go through electronic records.
The property dispute started back in 2001 when Prof. Ndetei and Rose Mbithe divorced. They have four children together and had a lengthy court fight over their assets.
Kyalo Mbobu was murdered in 2025, and that case is still being investigated. Detectives are now exploring if there's a link between Mbobu's death and Dr. Mutiso's murder, possibly stemming from the same long-standing property dispute.

However, authorities have not yet stated that the two murders are directly connected, as investigations are still in progress.
The DCI has described the investigation as complicated, involving many different angles like forensic analysis, witness accounts, and searching for more individuals.
Officials are asking the public to be patient and let them complete their work to fully understand what happened in both cases.
