What Was Tied Around Chemutai's Body When She Was Found Hanging From a Window Grill in Her Bedroom

New details have emerged surrounding the death of KCB senior Head of Data Protection Chemutai Rosemary Koech, who was reportedly found unresponsive inside her rental home in Kaiyet, Ngong, Kajiado County.

According to information attributed to her house help, Chemutai was reportedly well on the night of August 21, 2026, and spoke to her husband by phone shortly before she was found dead.

The house help reportedly told investigators that Chemutai allowed her children to use her phone to speak with their father that evening. 

After the children finished their conversation, Chemutai allegedly took the phone and went into her bedroom while continuing to speak with her husband.

She reportedly locked herself inside the bedroom, and what happened afterwards remains unclear.

The following morning, the house help prepared breakfast as part of the household's normal routine. However, concern reportedly grew when Chemutai failed to wake up and was already late for work.

The house help allegedly tried calling her several times, but received no response. She then reportedly knocked on the bedroom door, only to discover that it remained locked from inside.

Growing increasingly alarmed, the house help reportedly contacted members of Chemutai's family. The relatives allegedly forced the bedroom door open and made the grim discovery.

Chemutai was reportedly found lifeless inside the bedroom, with a leso allegedly found around her neck and near a window grille.

The circumstances surrounding her death prompted police to begin investigations into her final hours, including her last communication with her husband.

Investigators are reportedly seeking to establish what was discussed during the phone call and whether anything occurred before Chemutai entered her bedroom that could help explain what happened.

An autopsy has reportedly concluded that Chemutai died by suicide. However, the finding has not answered the broader question of what may have driven her to take her own life.

Her death has left relatives, colleagues and friends seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
